Quilt Making For Beginners

Quilt Making for Beginners

Wednesday, March , 8, 15, 22 & 29
6 pm—8 pm

Quilt making from start to finish! Students are instructed in picking out fabric and tools, using a rotary cutter, piecing accurately using a 1/4” seam, proper pressing, sandwiching their finished quilt top, quilting and binding their quilt. Everyone will leave class with their own finished quilt. Book is required.

Who doesn’t need a bag to carry a small project with them to the doctor’s office or to an appointment. Make this 14″ see through vinyl and sturdy quilted bag to carry all those goodies. Easy zipper assembly. You will want to make more than one for they make great gifts too. Pattern is required.

This Elegant Tee can be whipped up in an afternoon and worn that evening. Dress it up with slacks or wear it with Jeans. It is perfect for those upcoming graduation parties and is especially beautiful using Rayon Batiks. Pattern is required.

Arcade Game

Monday, March 27, April 3 & 10, 10 am—noon

Create playful 3D blocks that you could almost grab. Use solids, blender or small scale prints in light, medium and dark shades from the same color family to make each lively block. Three fat quarters will make nine blocks. The Quilters Garden has kits available or put in a request with Carolyn for a custom kit. The required pattern has multiple sizes to choose from.

Beginner Hand Embroidery

Tuesday, March 28 & April 4, 10 am—noon

The girls have an adorable project to get you started in hand embroidery. In the first session you will trace your design and learn how to color and shade your project using crayons. In the second session you will learn the basic embroidery stitch to finish off your project.

Saturday, April 8th & 22nd, 1 pm—4 pm

Come learn and create a modern (or not so modern) sampler quilt using only 5” squares and a background fabric. During the two sessions sew nine patches, cut and sew again to make some very intriguing blocks in this fun quilt. This is another great way to use up scraps or to create from fat quarters, charm squares or 10” squares. All are welcome from the very novice to the very advanced quilter. Pattern is required, 60” x 81”.

You’ve been asking us to add this fun project to our class calendar. Make one in class and have plenty of time to make more for Christmas gifts. Choose any fabric you like and spray with waterproofing when your done! Pattern is required. Bring a sack lunch with you to class or run out for a carry out!

Come join us for the day to learn quilting tips, several different stripping tips and applique techniques. Also, some different flower ideas too. Pattern is required, 52” x 72”.

This pattern is a simplified, quick paper pieced project designed from the classic Carolina Lily pattern. During the two sessions, you can piece the blocks either traditionally or paper pieced. This is a great way to learn paper piecing for those of you who may be skittish. Come learn and discover the many tips of this fun quilting method. You will also be taught several different applique and stitching techniques for the individual flower blocks. Explore many variations using your favorite flower fabrics and backgrounds. The possibilities are endless. Pattern is required. 76″

Join Designer Kathleen Andrews during this two day workshop introducing her newest design. Celtic Stars is an intermediate pattern but is easily made using chain and strip piecing, simple template piecing and Celtic made easy with the use of double sided tape instead of pins for perfect circles. Pattern is required.

Join Carolyn to make these quick & easy placemats using just four fat quarters plus backing. We will also learn a quick mitered binding technique using the backing. So fun, you will want to make different ones for every season! Pattern is required.
